Amazon.com Review:
A 3-D action-adventure game starring everyone's favorite webhead, Spider-Man is quite a rarity--a superhero video game that's worth playing. Featuring an original story jam-packed with characters and locations from the comics, and, more importantly, gameplay that does our hero justice, this is one title that won't disappoint Spidey fans.

While Spider-Man's story line (told via a slide show of comic book panels) is linear, there's great freedom of movement within the game's 3-D indoor and outdoor environments. True to comic book form, you can climb walls and travel about webswinging, although the former can be disorientating in terms of point-of-view, and the latter is often a leap of faith, as the game's shoddy graphics (even with the optional Expansion Pak) create a restricted field of vision. In addition to being able to do all sorts of nifty things with your webspinners, Spidey's superstrength, superagility, and spider-sense (for which you'll want a Rumble Pak to feel the patented tingle) are also accounted for. As for his superhuman reflexes, well, that one's really up to you. --Joe Hon

Pros:
  • Gameplay that actually does Spider-Man justice
  • Simple in-game display; solid controls
  • Lots of secrets unlock in records and gallery modes
  • Kid mode simplifies controls and gameplay for younger players
Cons:
  • Shoddy graphics can cause Spidey to go splat
  • Point-of-view can be disorienting at times
  • PlayStation version features much-improved graphics and sound

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Playstation does better what a spider can
This was the 3D Spider-Man game that redefined how to faithfully translate comic books to the video game medium. You play as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, framed for a crime you didn't commit. You'll web-swing through the city, crawl through sewers, bust up secret labs, and take on a host of your most deadly adversaries. While the camera and controls weren't perfect, this was the first time you really felt like you were playing as Spider-Man, instead of some generic platforming character with Spider-Man ... Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Just Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man
This is the best Spider-man game i've played, since Maximum carnage. This game is so sweet and you get to Battle a lot of classic Villians, Like Scorpion, Venom and others. It would be cool if you could play black cat. And what is better is that you get to change your costume from the original version, street version and venom version. This game is sweet. this is a must have.

If you liked this game check out all of the other Spider-Man games.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Go Spidey!
I only tried this game on Ps2 but on that system it was very good.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - It passes the time... and that's all I ask
What surprised me most when I first popped this cartridge into my system and turned on the unit, was how much of a likeness that the game bore to 'Maximum Carnage,' the title that was Spider Man's foray into Sega Genesis. Although it's been awhile since I've played 'Maximum Carnage,' I distinctly remember how Spidey and Venom looked in that game, as well as how the story went. It seemed as if attempts were made to just simply adapt 'Carnage' to Nintendo 64, Sony Playstation, and Game Boy Color. The ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Spidey kicks butt!!
We rented the N64 version for my 5 year old before we bought it and he absoluley loved it. I liked that it had a kid mode, although my son is so adept he didn't play kid mode and still [did well]. The spidey sense was cool as well. The characters were awesome and we really liked reading the comic strips. All in all, I would definatly recommend this game for anyone, it really is a lot of fun, even for younger players.
