starring: Belinda Montgomery, Ray Porter, Edggar Frogg, David Llewellyn, Paul Masonson directed by: Brian Nissen, Richard Rich Binding: VHS Tape EAN: 9780790750361 Format: Animated, Closed-captioned, Color, NTSC ISBN: 0790750368 Label: Warner Home Video Manufacturer: Warner Home Video Number Of Items: 1 Publisher: Warner Home Video Release Date: August 22, 2000 Running Time: 81 minutes Sales Rank: 12518 Studio: Warner Home Video Theatrical Release Date: 2000 Editorial Review: Amazon.com: It has syrupy ballads! It has inanimate objects that come to life! It has a villain who falls to his death! The noble Polly is basically an indentured servant to the evil Grisham, working off her orphan debt, but managing to save a little money and bury it next to a scarecrow. When the scarecrow comes to life and is given the form of a man as long as he wears a feather in his cap, he strives to rescue her from the lascivious clutches of Grisham and also to help her free the three young orphans she plans to raise. Aided by an enchanted broomstick, a mouthy mouse, and some nifty dancing, he accomplishes his goals. Set in Puritan times, this 77-minute movie manages to cram in an awful lot of anachronisms: Dancers steal John Travolta's moves from both Saturday Night Fever and Pulp Fiction, and one character calls another 'jiving hip-hop trash.' But the bottom line is that none of this will bother young children who will enjoy the action and the pranks, and will be exposed to the movie's clear moral lines. (Hurting others: bad. Helping others: good.) (Ages 3 and older) --Kimberly Heinrichs Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - The magic of courage and perseverenceI saw this movie 8 years ago and absolutely fell in love with it!^^ I was up and singing and danceing before I even knew it. It's a wonderful love story that will touch your heart and soul! It also has a strog morale everyone can learn. Rating: - A joyous movie filled with magic and wonder! The Scarecrow, though very cheesy at times, is one of the best animated movies. My favorite part, would have to be the reoccuring DANCE theme throughout the movie. The best part has to be the dance sequence featuring the scarecrow at the beginning of the movie. This movie can be enjoyed by people of all ages, though you might not think so at first glance. I am a teenager, and I love it for the absurd story line, if not the cheese factor, as do my friends, and some are older than me. ... Let me start by saying that I am suprised this is not a film created by the great of cartoon films, Walt Disney. It has everything a childrens' cartoon should have, magical situations, evil figures, a beautiful maiden. It has some great musical numbers, as well as the smoothness in the characters' movement is very well done. The only bad part is that not enough format's have been brought into production, due to the fact I wish ... Read More Rating: - Cute Kids MovieThe six-year-old I was baby sitting loved this movie. By the end, I too, was hoping everything would turn out OK! It's defiantly geared toward young children, but it makes a good family movie. When a scarecrow falls in love with a serving girl, Polly, he decides to do everything in his power to help her escape the clutches of the evil Count Grisham. I enjoyed it, although characters (living in the colonies) make some references to modern day, such as 'cool,' and 'jiving hip-hop trash.' The kids probably ...
