Editorial Review: Product Description: The Acrylic Bread Slicer makes it easy to cut your homemade breads into nice, even slices without getting crumbs all over the kitchen! Amazon.com Review: This is an adequate no-frills manual bread slicer, and adequate is the operative word. The crumb catcher eliminates messes, making this slicer a much cleaner option than slicing bread on a cutting board. Also, you can achieve uniform 1/2-inch slices; the only caveat is that you can't adjust the slicer to cut any thicker or thinner. Use your longest serrated knife when cutting, because a knife that just barely spans the width of the slicing tray will keep slipping out of the acrylic slicing guides. The guides have no top support and tend to wobble a bit as you slice. They also have inexplicably high sides; you'd have to use triple the leavening to make bread that reaches the top of them.  Rating:  - Bread SlicerI use the bread slicer everyday. You have to be careful with it. I broke one of the plastic guides very easily. Wish they had a sturdier model. Rating:  - Just what I was looking for...I am completely satisfied with this product. You get nice uniform pieces of bread. I also love the crumb catcher...less clean up :) Rating: - The best thing since unsliced bread!This product definitely increases my enjoyment of having a bread machine. When used properly, you get nice even slices that can be evenly toasted, or hearty sandwiches, or made into French toast. This is a very simple tool but the craftsmanship is fine. You do need a long knife to make the best use; I have a 10 inch bread knife that I recommend. Read More Rating:  - Poor craftsmanshipThis bread slicer broke the second time I used it. The wooden frame is delicate and did not hold up to slicing with a serrated knife. The wood is unfinished (not sealed) and will likely harbor microorganisms. Definitely not worth the money. Amazon should be ashamed to sell this product. Rating:  - Slicing the breadWorks well - needs a really long knife to stay within guides. It is also helpful to allow bread to cool before attempting to slice. |
