Editorial Review: Description: A retiring cop and his replacement track a psychotic killer who's using the seven deadly sins as a guide. Starring Brad Pitt, Morgan Freeman and Gwyneth Paltrow. Amazon.com essential video: The most viscerally frightening and disturbing homicidal maniac picture since The Silence of the Lambs, Seven is based on an idea that's both gruesome and ingenious. A serial killer forces each of his victims to die by acting out one of the seven deadly sins. The murder scene is then artfully arranged into a grotesque tableau, a graphic illustration of each mortal vice. From the jittery opening credits to the horrifying (and seemingly inescapable) concluding twist, director David Fincher immerses us in a murky urban twilight where everything seems to be rotting, rusting, or molding; the air is cold and heavy with dread. Morgan Freeman and Brad Pitt are the detectives who skillfully track down the killer--all the while unaware that he has been closing in on them, as well. Gwyneth Paltrow and Kevin Spacey are also featured, but it is director Fincher and the ominous, overwhelmingly oppressive atmosphere of doom that he creates that are the real stars of the film. It's a terrific date movie--for vampires. --Jim Emerson Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - Great, absolutely greatNot only is the movie great, but all the extras in this package are the cherry on top. You get a lot for your money - the extra materials, the booklet, the packaging itself make it a worthwhile buy. Rating: - This isn't just another thriller . . .This isn't just another thriller. This one deals with psychology, philosophy, and the seven deadly sins (Gluttony, Greed, Wrath, Lust, Sloth, Pride, and Envy). This one shakes you to the bone (it really works as a top-rate thriller). The acting, the cinematography, the minimal music, and the urban setting are amazing. And you'll be rightfully shocked at what happens in the end. ****1/2 out of *****. Rating: - Pitt Carries Seven.Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman make Seven a must see. There are enough twists and turns to make the story go. Sometimes more obvious than it needs to be, it still has great acting, solid story line, believeable characters and action. Rating: - Like "Saw", but it doesn't suckSe7en is a film about 2 detectives trying to solve a murder case where the killer is executing people who he thinks have committed the 7 deadly sins. This thriller will keep you on the edge of your seat and has the best ending/climax that I have ever seen. This film will also act as a moral compass and make you think about your own beliefs about life, death, and sin. highly reccamended. Rating: - Fear times 7One of the most fearful movies I have ever seen. Just outstanding acting and suspense. |
