Editorial Review: Product Description: The cast iron oval French Oven has been long celebrated by French chefs for its incomparable heat retention which makes it easier to prepare and simmer tender meat dishes and savory soups at very low temperatures for extended periods of time. Limited lifetime warranty. Amazon.com Review: Beautiful enough to bring to the table, yet durable enough to outlive its 101-year warranty against defects, this heavy casserole is perfect for preparing and ceremoniously serving dishes such as choucroute garni and braised lamb shanks. The oval shape handles big cuts of meat and big birds. Use it in the oven or on the stovetop for soups and chili. Made of cast-iron, which is unexcelled for its heat distribution and retention, this French oven cooks foods evenly and gently without hot spots at low temperatures and is suitable for all heat sources. This pan holds 5 quarts and its exterior and interior are clad in two coats of Le Creuset's famous enamel. The plastic knob on its heavy, tight-fitting lid is ovenproof to 450 degrees F. Loop handles facilitate carrying, and the casserole is dishwasher-safe. Like all Le Creuset cast-iron products, it is hand-cast in a one-of-a-kind sand mold and hand-finished at the Le Creuset factory in France. --Fred Brack Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - Love it!I bought this for my husband and he loves it. My grandmother and mother both had one just like it which my husband admired very much, so I bought him his own. It is just the right size for us, and the price was the best I could find. Rating: - Excellent quality, what you'd expect from Le Creuset!Bought this for my wife for her birthday. It is an excellet pot for making stew, roasts, risotto, etc. Heavy & durable, easy to clean. The 5-qt size is a perfect everyday size and doesn't overwhelm the cooktop. Still able to use the other 3 burners when using this pot. Rating: - Another winner from Le CreusetI own a couple of Le Creusets, but this is now my favorite pot. If you had to own one pot, this should be it. I love the width, and use it for stir-fry, risotto, chicken stews, and to mix pasta. It retains the heat very well, so you use less energy. I bought it from TJMaxx for 100$ less than Amazon price...so keep your eye out at TJMaxx or Marshals, and grab one quick if you see it, you will never regret it. Totally worth the price. Rating: - Very usefulWe've had this only for a week, and we've cooked in it three times already. It is Le Creuset, of course, with the quality you expect, and this happens to be a perfect size. Rating: - Good cooks know quality! This French Oven is awesome! We are the proud owners of 2 LeCreuset ovens. This 5-quart really fits our needs better than the bigger one. Definitely worth the $$$! |
