Editorial Review:

Description:
Hayley Mills received a special Academy Award(R) for her performance as Pollyanna in this timeless Walt Disney tapestry of small-town Americana. Here you'll meet Pollyanna, the orphan who brings sunshine into the lives of everyone she meets. But her Aunt Polly (Jane Wyman) is too concerned with appearances, propriety, and local politics to appreciate her effervescent niece. It isn't until the town almost loses their 'Glad Girl' that Aunt Polly realizes the power of love and lightheartedness. Featuring an impressive all-star cast and a story filled with fun, laughter, and tears, POLLYANNA will inspire your entire family and prove that the art of positive thinking is just as delightful today as it was at the turn of the century!

Amazon.com:
Optimism shines in this classic 1960 Disney film starring Hayley Mills. When the newly orphaned Pollyanna comes to live with her wealthy aunt in Harrington Town, life looks promising. Despite her aunt's insistence on propriety and modesty, Pollyanna's cheerful, optimistic ways spread throughout the town--converting even a cantankerous recluse and a whining hypochondriac. Only Aunt Polly has trouble welcoming her young niece into her heart. In a clash between the townspeople and Aunt Polly over local politics, it's Pollyanna's influence that helps individual townspeople find the inner strength to stand up for their own beliefs. When Pollyanna is involved in a serious accident, Aunt Polly finally realizes how much she loves her niece. Can Aunt Polly and the entire town somehow restore Polly's optimism and ensure a full recovery? Pollyanna is wholesome entertainment that will leave the entire family eager to play the 'glad game.' --Tami Horiuchi

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Always loved this story
I believe this is the best of the Pollyanna movies. There is nobody like Hayley Mills. It's a sweet and funny way to return to your childhood. I'm enjoying introducing Pollyanna to my grandchildren and pleased to see that it's not all video games but that the simple things still appeal.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Not as good as the book
My daughter is 9 and loves this story. We read the book before ordering the movie and she couldn't put it down. The movie is very Disneyish with the colorful sets, simple characters and plot modifications to make the story "better". We are always on the lookout for good wholesome movies for our daughter and in that respect, I can recommend this one. But I highly recommend you read the book first. If you like this one, you can read Heidi next.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Inspiring & Uplifting!
Pollyanna (Vault Disney Collection)
Set in the Victorian Era. A very poignant story of a young girl who has lost her parents, moved in with her Aunt, has quite a few mishaps, one very serious. But through it all, Pollyanna brings happiness and hope to all she comes in contact with. At the end of the story, everyone gathers 'round her, to bring hope and happiness, to their Pollyanna. Excellent movie. Highly recommended.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Another Take on "Over the Rainbow"
When Pollyanna, Hayley Mills, is paralyzed, she is faced with the same
question that she had posed others with her "glad game." Are you going
my way or am I going yours? Enjoy that Pollyanna moment when a town of
chandelier shakers such as Karl Malden convert into a town of rainbow
riders. They welcome her back into again believing in the shared ride.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Wholesome and Sweet
If you want a completely clean, wholesome family movie, this is it. Pollyanna is the perpetually bright child who brings joy in the miserable lives of the people in her aunt's town. When she faces her own demons, the support of those she helped is overwhelming. It's such a great movie and a classic Hayley Mills.
