The heavy stoneware crock lifts out of the heating base for easy cleaning thanks to a stick-resistant coating, and is attractive enough to serve from right at the table. While the crock is safe for use in the microwave and dishwasher, it is not intended for use on a stovetop or under a broiler. With two cook settings, low and high, the pot can slow cook a wide variety of stews, roasts, and soups, recipes for which are included in the owner's guide. The glass lid, also dishwasher-safe, sends moisture back into the pot while at the same time allows contents to be viewed.  Rating:  - Crock cracked before one yearI bought the crock March 5, 2008. The crock developed an extensive crack on the bottom, which I noticed yesterday, January 7, 2009. I loved it while it lasted. Yes, I'll buy another just like it without bothering about the warranty because the cost is so reasonable and because I'm too busy right now to deal with the warranty. Its larger than the previous crock we had, so my wife can make even more of her great spaghetti sauce and other delicious dishes.
