Editorial Review: Product Description: R. H. Forschner is a division of Swiss Army Brands, Inc, renowned for the Victorinox Swiss Army Knife. These knives are specially ground and tempered so that they can be resharpened over and over again, keeping a sharp edge throughout their lifetime. State of the art technology blended with old world craftsmanship produce cutting instruments of excellent quality, at reasonable prices. Forschner Victorinox Fibrox knives have earned high marks in a well-known cooking magazine which stringently tests kitchen products. These three knives will enable you to handle the majority of kitchen tasks, and you'll save over purchasing them open stock. Amazon.com Review: This set of three knives from R.H. Forschner by Victorinox makes an excellent gift for the home chef. The 4-inch paring knife adeptly manages most fruit and vegetable peeling, cutting, and garnishing; the 8-inch slicing knife carves the Thanksgiving turkey and other roasts; and the large 10-inch chef's knife tackles a multitude of kitchen chopping, mincing, and slicing tasks. The Fibrox blades are made in Germany and hand-finished in Switzerland. Providing a comfortable grip, the triple-rivet, ergonomic POM (plastic over molded) handles are curved in such a way so as to reduce wrist strain over long periods of use. While the knives are dishwasher-safe, Forschner recommends washing them by hand and covers them with a lifetime warranty against manufacturer's defects. --Ann Bieri What's in the Box: 3 Fibrox knives: 4-inch paring; 8-inch slicing; 10-inch chef's. ![]() Rating: - Bought as a gift for my son in chef schoolAfter doing a lot of research on Amazon, I decided to buy this set of knives for my high school son who is studying to be a chef. I figured that for a first set, the price could not be beat. My son is quite happy with these knives. I also bought my son the knife sharpener made by the same manufacturer for use with these knives, but he wanted a different kind of sharpener. Rating: - A great starter setThis is my first set of "real" knives, and they are great! Very comfortable to grip and use, and they are super sharp. When they first arrived, my roommate ran his thumb over the edge of the chef's knife and expressed skepticism about its sharpness. So he picked up a piece of paper and sliced at it. The cut was quick and smooth. He was impressed. My experience cutting tomatoes--often a good test--has been the same. I had done a bunch of research before deciding on these knives. ... Rating: - Best knife everI just bought this set of knife for my girldfriend as an anniversary gift because she it's about to begin in Chef School next summer, the quality it's amazing, i would recommend this set to everyone. Buy it with your eyes closed, you won't regret. Rating: - Simply amazingI purchased these with the need for affordable knives, and I saw the perfect review score for this set on Amazon (18/18 reviews at 5 stars). I figured I couldn't go wrong. I didn't. Obviously the most important trait of a knife is how sharp it is. These are simply the sharpest knives I have ever used. I've used cheap ones that cheat and use a serration to achieve sharpness, and I've used pricier Henkels and similar. A sharper knife is actually a safer knife, since your cuts ... Read More |
