Both of my kids have stood on it - and beat it like you wouldn't believe and it still looks brand new (besides the crayon marks all over the top). Great Sound!I got this drum for my son's 4th birthday. He was excited to get it. I don't mind the sound at all. It is not a loud annoying sound like some cheap toys are. We also had the large lollipop Remo drum already, which we all enjoy. I also have a 18 month old. There is a mallet for each of them and they both play on it at the same time. It is an authentic and sturdy drum. You might need to be careful with the kids. My 5-year old stepson stood on top of it, and it didn't break. He was instructed to never do that again, but he probably will! It's a big hit with all our friends, both little and big.
