A unique tray table extends to hold drinks, magazines, and other lounging essentials, then slides back underneath for storage. The back adjusts to five positions--from fully-upright to completely-reclined. Matching cushions can also be purchased to add even more comfort. The bench’s slotted surface allows rain to flow through, rather than collect and damage the wood. The piece is made from kapur wood, a high-density Southeast Asian hardwood with excellent weather-resistant properties. Light enough to move easily around deck or lawn, kapur requires no finishing and is exceptionally-sturdy--with enough oil to repel the ravages of rain, sun, and dew. Rust-resistant hardware and mortise and tenon construction also add to the piece’s strength and durability.
Before shipment, your new furniture received a generous application of teak oil. Teak oil provides protection from the ultraviolet sunrays. Left untreated, Kapur will weather to a soft warm shade of gray similar to the weathering of teak. If you prefer to prevent this weathering process, you may apply additional coats of teak oil. The frequency of necessary teak oil applications will depend on the intensity of the sun in your environment, but typically, one or two coats per year is sufficient. Teak oil can usually be found at a marine dealer, hardware store, or internet dealer. If you allow your furniture to weather, you may later decide that you would want to restore it to its original condition. This is possible by using teak cleaner products, also available at most marine dealers and internet dealers. After following the instructions for cleaning, you will want to apply a coat of teak oil to prevent the weathering process. The lounge’s preassembled components fit together easily with the help of an included allen wrench.  Rating:  - Another good valueThese are great. Had a bit of trouble building them at first...it comes in a box FULL of pieces. After the first one was done, it wasn't bad. If you don't like assembly, this product may not be for you. Price was good and they're strong. The beverage tray is great! Rating:  - Will not last more than two yearsI bought two of these in 2006. I have now thrown them away. They are completely trashed. The slats fall off if you even touch them. The screws the manufacturer used are miniscule. If you move the chairs, slats fall off. Maybe they would hold up if you kept them indoors at all times. It really annoys me, because I believed all the PR about these being sturdy and made out of a solid wood. Read More Rating: - Exactly What I WantedI wanted heavy, low maintenance lounges for my new deck. The two I ordered arrived the day after I ordered them; can you believe it!!!! They are very heavy and sturdy. I found pads on 'end of year' sale at the local K-Mart, and I even had about 10 days of sunshine available to use them. The small shelf that slides to the left or right is handy but gets a little sticky when wet, no big deal. Rating: - dont buy this unless you're a woodworkerthis lounge, apparently made by a shell company because there is no corporate listing for "Strathwood", was made in Vietnam and reflects sub-standard production. Many of the pre-drilled holes do not line up with their mates, a couple so bad that I had to fill the holes with dowels and then re-drill them.
