Editorial Review: Product Description: Maya Kaimal is a leading authority on Indian food and an award-winning author of two cookbooks: 'Curried Favors' and 'Savoring the Spice Coast of India'. She has appeared on Martha Stewart, the Food Network and the Today Show, and writes about Indian cooking for 'Saveur' and 'Food & Wine'. Maya Kaimal introduces three fresh, vibrant simmer sauces: Coconut Curry, Tikka Masala, and Vindaloo. These are all-natural, authentic Indian curry sauces made with only the best ingredients, created for the American kitchen. All you need to do is heat the sauce in a pan with meat or your favorite ingredient, simmer and serve. Tikka Masala is a classic creamy tomato-based curry, mildly spiced with cinnamon, cardamom and clove. A traditional favorite simmered with chicken and served with rice. Also works well with fish, shrimp or vegetables, or blended with yogurt for a cool dip or spread. (Serves four) Coconut Curry: With this curry, Maya Kaimal brings you the flavors of tropical South India, delicately balancing sweet coconut milk with fresh ginger and fragrant curry leaves. These exotic flavors make a delicious curry with seafood or vegetables, or a tasty marinade for grilled foods. (Serves four) Vindaloo: This famously hot and sour curry is made with black pepper and coriander from Indias spice coast, tempered by tangy tamarind and coconut milk. Always a perfect sauce for beef, pork or lamb, Vindaloo is also great for spicing up tofu and vegetables or burgers and wraps. (Serves four) Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - Nice bottled Indian simmer sauceDo you enjoy Indian cooking? This bottled product, Tikka Masala (by Maya Kaimal), isn't bad! I stopped by Williams-Sonoma earlier in the week and couldn't resist trying this. I have had some fine Indian cooking at restaurants with this flavoring. I used this with chicken, served over Basmati rice. Sautee the chicken, lower the heat, and let simmer with this sauce. Served over rice, this is tasty. You can also use this with lamb or shrimp (sautéed). What's in the sauce? ... Read More Rating: - Not bad...!This pre-made tikka masala sauce is actually not bad... A bit tart, and could be thickened up a bit, but overall, it's pretty tasty. Nice mix of spices, and not too rich. Just tried it with same garbanzo beans and peas mixed in, and it worked quite well. I look forward to trying the other Maya Kaimal sauces soon. |
