In icy conditions, CAUTION, is always the most important factor, no matter what the devise. In walking indoors all devises can be hazardous, it depends on the care you use while walking. She wore out one set of the less expensive model, and lost one of the second set. The less expensive models don't stay on the shoes as well, so we bought these to compare. These certainly stay on. I love the Pro style. The velcro strap keeps them on your boots. I lost one of the regular Yaktrax and didn't even know it until it was too late.
