 Rating:  - Not very sturdyTook the lamp out of the box and had to insert the halogen bulb (was not in place as shipped). Placed the lamp on the desk and the counter lever gear broke off of the stand. No stress applied but the gear was stripped and the bar holding it in place was broken. There was no apparent damage to the box. Frankly, for the price of return shipping it's not worth paying for an exchange. You can definitely do better .... AVOID THIS PRODUCT!!!! That is one of the big positives of Halogen bulbs. What impressed me most was the counterbalance design of the device. The lever and gears that allow for the easy and smooth lowering and raising of the lamp is ingenious and I would love to know the history of the design of this piece. CONS: -It's pretty common among these types of lamps, but it runs very hot. Don't put any heat sensitive devices/objects under the lamp. The lamp shade is also very hot to the touch. -No dimmer.
